Several Statutes regulate the South African Industry. Due to these statutes Industry must consider legal, moral and financial considerations. One of these statutes is the Occupational Health & Safety Act, 85 of 1993. This Act came into affect on the 1st of January 1994 and Industry had to comply with the Act and its Regulations. In terms of the Act every employer has the responsibility to provide a safe working environment which is free from hazards and Risks. Employers must ensure the Safety of themselves, their employees, visitors and other person visiting their businesses. It is therefore the responsibility of every employer in industry to prevent people from being harmed at work.
